We seek to lift the souls of sick children by sponsoring
live artistic performances (music, magic, tale-telling, doll playing and handicrafts)
in children's hospitals and in the children's wards of general hospitals.
The healing power and soul-lifting characteristics of music have been proved worldwide.
The Membership Drive is focused towards raising funds for our activities. Each Membership Fee sponsors one or more concrete visits in the hospitals.
In addition, Memberships enable us to give a pair of Golden Slippers for a child in the hospital.

The Smiling Hospital Foundation exists to improve the lives of sick children in hospitals.
The Charter of the Smiling Hospital Foundation was approved and registered by the Court of Justice in Budapest in October, 2004. A special status ("Közhasznú", i.e. "Public Interest") was given which makes, in principle, all income from donations and other sources tax-free for our Foundation.
The Founder of the Smiling Hospital Foundation is Countess Éva Csáky Bornemisza.
Dr. Mr. (jur.) Albert Royaards from the Netherlands is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The Board of Trustees consists of four members; two lawyers, a Regional Manager of a multinational company, and a paediatrician, - chairman of a children hospital in Hungary.
The specific objectives of the Foundation are as follows:
| 1. The Smiling Hospital Foundation's financial support enables professional artists (charging far less than their usual fees) and devoted amateurs to visit our many participating hospitals. The artists bring beauty, hope and comfort to the patients, their families, and the hospital staff, often playing at the child's bedside. |

Our artistic performances for the sick children are already being held on a weekly basis in many hospitals throughout Hungary. We plan to cover all 19 counties with our music, magic, puppeteering, story-telling and other arts, this year or next year. To see the state of the progress in Hungary click here.
The Foundation is also present in Singapore, Indonesia, India, China, Slovakia, and Croatia.
2. The long term plans of the Foundation include also raising funds for the purchase of medical equipment which the children's hospitals cannot afford, including child-sized emergency equipment. We also help finance certain medical services for which Hungarian hospitals do not have sufficient funds.
